Culture and Community at L.A. Fuess
L.A. Fuess Partners believes engaged and satisfied employees feel a profound connection to the company and each other. ACE Mentors
Many young engineers at L.A. Fuess Partners have shared their knowledge, experience, and love for engineering with the ACE Mentor Program. The program recruits high school juniors & seniors who are interested in careers in architecture, construction, or engineering (ACE). The program’s mission is to engage, excite, and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in ACE industries. Mentoring sessions occur almost every Thursday evening between October and April at engineering and architecture offices in Dallas. Our office hosts an engineering activity every year as well. Each week the students work together on fun and educational ACE-related activities. The students are grouped into teams where they take a design project from proposal to completion through a design charrette. At the end-of-year banquet the students come together and present their final project to their parents, mentors, and a panel of local ACE professionals. The activities & project are intended to be educational and fun, but at the same time simulate the responsibilities of each profession and how design professionals all collaborate together to achieve a successful project. As mentors, our employees have the opportunity to share our unique knowledge and perspective during the educational activities, hands-on activities, and design charrettes.

Canstruction
Benefiting the North Texas Food Bank, L.A. Fuess Partners has participated in CANstruction since 2002. Along with many other companies in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, a team of our employees works together for several months each year to design a sculpture made entirely out of non-perishable food items. In the fall, the CANstruction team puts their ideas into action by building a unique sculpture using cans purchased with donations from industry partners and from L.A. Fuess Partners. Following the build, all of the structures are judged by a panel of local judges to select winners from several different categories. Past L.A. Fuess CANstruction teams have been selected for “Structural Integrity” and “Juror’s Choice” awards. After exhibiting the CANstructures for several weeks, all food items are donated to local food banks. This event is a great opportunity for our employees to exercise their creative capabilities and provide a much needed assistance to the community.
